Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is most well-known for her songs. She's the smallest woman and was the first person to receive an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is the student and child of Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her beginning of her career bouncing between London as well as New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years of age. Later she moved in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anoushka is a native of England and spent a lot of her growing up in between London and Delhi. She then moved to California and enrolled in high school there. at the age of nine She began studying music alongside her father. Her first performance with the Sitar was during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi in the year following. Her father traveled around the world with her and she gained many experiences. As she was teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the youngest and sole female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and talent as a preeminent musician of in the Asian Arts.
